If you missed Shaun Tompkin’s presentation at the 2024 High Life Expo, we’ve got good news.

Never Too Small - a media company dedicated to small footprint design and living - has made some brilliant short films about Shaun’s renovation.

Shaun’s $20,000 complete renovation is inspiring and includes lots of clever tips about how you can save your hard earned cash, use more sustainable materials, and improve the thermal comfort of your apartment. He’s taken a particularly unique and thoughtful approach to insulating his apartment, which could easily be translated into other apartment homes.

There are two videos, a longer video (20 min) and a shorter one (12) mins, both jammed full of information and lived experience.

Shaun’s home is a such a great example of design, sustainability and personality working in harmony.

Longer version (20 min)

If you’re short on time version (12 min)

When it comes to making things, Shaun Tompkins, a Melbourne-based Sustainable Building Officer with local government, would rather do it himself. And his 42sqm/452sqft apartment in Melbourne was his biggest DIY project to date.
