A Sustainable Building Officer’s DIY Renovation of His Melbourne Apartment

If you missed Shaun Tompkin’s presentation at the 2024 High Life Expo, we’ve got good news.

Never Too Small - a media company dedicated to small footprint design and living - has made a brilliant short film about Shaun’s renovation.

Shaun’s $20,000 complete renovation is inspiring and includes lots of clever tips about how you can save your hard earned cash, use more sustainable materials, and improve the thermal comfort of your apartment.

When it comes to making things, Shaun Tompkins, a Melbourne-based Sustainable Building Officer with local government, would rather do it himself. And his 42sqm/452sqft apartment in Melbourne was his biggest DIY project to date.
